Brief Description: Defensive Tactics Instructor Course; 10-day PTC Certification

Full Description: This is the TEN-DAY, PTC-recognized and sanctioned course for any Officer who is going to instruct Defensive Tactics at the Police Academy or within their own Agency.  Topics include,

  - Physiological Impact during High Stress Situations
  - Use of Force
  - Resistance and Compliance Techniques
  - Stance, blocks, personal weapons
  - Positional control
  - Escapes from chokes, headlocks, grabs, and bearhugs
  - Pain compliance control
  - Reverses from side, mount, and guard
  - Defending against knives and blunt objects
  - Subject weapon concealment
  - Positional handcuffing - And more

This is a physical course.  Students must be ready and able to perform all tasks associated with DT.

NOTE: Due to the popularity of this course, we must limit registrations to only TWO per Agency.

Resources Required: A knowledge of, and familiarity with, defensive tactics is mandatory.

Students must be dressed appropriately for hands-on DT training. Students must also bring,

- Water
- Gun belt and "Blue" gun (weapons retention is a part of this certification)
- No shoes on the mats, and no bare feet on the floor, so students are also encouraged to bring slides or wear wrestling shoes.
