Brief Description: Firearms Instructor Certification Class conducted by MCPA Staff

Full Description: This is a five day course.
This course is designed to impart to the Officer the necessary knowledge in the field of firearms, to be capable of conducting Firearms Training and to operate a firearms range. This course includes instruction in basic shooting principles, various pistol courses, and range operations. The Officer must fire an average of 95% on three consecutive HQC-1 courses to successfully complete this course.
PREREQUISITE: The Officer must have attended a Basic Firearms Course and be proficient with firearms. Officers who are going to attend this course must report to the Indoor Range on Friday, TBD, at 0900hrs, with their service weapon, duty holster, belt and 500 rounds of lead-free frangible ammunition. Officers will be required to shoot the HQC three times and finish with an average score of 95% or above.
Ammunition is not provided by the Academy. Class size limited to 25 to ensure range safety and appropriate instructor to student ratios.

Prerequisites: As the Training Officer responsible for registering personnel on behalf the employing agency, I affirm all of the following requirements:

1) The registrant is a sworn law enforcement officer (if required for this class).
2) The registrant is authorized to attend this training.
3) The registrant will abide by the academy dress code and/or other requirements set forth in the course description.

You must have your supervisor's approval prior to registering for any in-service courses. Registration by phone or fax is not accepted.
